Cleaning Grease off Your Kitchen Cabinets

Cleaning Grease off Your Kitchen CabinetsGreat Tip for Cleaning Grese off your Kitchen Cabiunets!   Cleaning Grease off cabinets

I have had a dirty little secret!

Everyone always tells me how clean my house is.  It’s not really.  Not since I’ve had kids. You’ve seen those cute little signs, Excuse the mess, we are busy making memories or Excuse the mess, we live here?  Well that’s not really my style.  In fact, my house is nothing like the clean it used to be before the kids.  I’ve grown more accustomed to the mess, but so many little things tend to get over looked these days.  Many people have exciting goals like running a marathon or skydiving (and I may have just become the biggest loser because I just googled Common goals people have, because I couldn’t come up with 2 good ideas), you know what I’ve always wanted?  To put my house on the market and have the ad say, “Mrs. Clean lives here”.  I’m not kidding, I actually told my realtor I wanted that on my add.  She said, your house will sell itself.  OK, she was right, but I really wanted that at the time.   One thing I’ve been over-looking lately is my kitchen cabinets.  I’m home cleaning today and thought, maybe today’s the day to get that grease off the cabinets.  Now keep in mind, these are just the cabinets over the stove, and grease is always building up on these cabinets. I wipe down my cabinets frequently, since they are white and show any dirt, but I do tend to “overlook” these top cabinets because I never could seem to get the grime off with much success.  So, get ready for some ulgy, because here is what my cabinets looked like a few minutes ago (embarrassing photos enlarged and close up for detail to follow):

So this is the top edge along the ceiling.  I have those god-awful therma-foil cabinets and for lack of a better term the surface is “pockey”.

iPhone Tip: Custom Vibrations

iPhone Tip: Custom VibrationsiPhone Tip: Custom Vibrations

Did you know you could create custom vibration alerts with the iPhone and associate them with contacts? It’s true. Most people had no idea this feature rolled out way back with iOS 5. It’s part of their accessibility package, included with the phone’s software.

Why use custom vibrations? One handy use for the function is associating a custom vibration with only urgent contacts. Your wife, your kids, or even a high-profile client could merit a custom vibration.

With custom vibrations, you can keep your phone on silent but not interrupt the flow of a meeting or conversation to check your screen if you’re receiving an urgent call. When you feel the custom vibration, simply excuse yourself to handle the call.

You can choose from default “custom” vibrations, or even use Apple’s interface to tap out your own.

Wall Street Journel Reports - Home Values Post 12 Straight Months of Increases
Posted by Eric Winklhofer on November 27, 2012 in Amherst Condominium Lancaster Cheektowaga
By Nick Timiraos

National home values rose by 1.1% in October from September, the largest monthly gain in seven years, according to a report released Wednesday by Zillow, the online real-estate information company.

It’s the first time housing markets have posted 12 straight monthly gains in the Zillow survey since the housing sector’s long slide began in 2006. “We’ve reached a milestone,” said Stan Humphries, Zillow’s chief economist.

All of the 30 largest metro areas tracked by Zillow posted gains in October from September except for Chicago.

Nationally, home values were up by 4.7% from one year ago, with some 26 of 30 markets seeing rising values, led by Phoenix’s gain of 22.3%, San Jose, Calif. (11.4%), Denver (10.4%), San Francisco (9.5%) and Miami (8.8%). The only cities with year-over-year declines included Atlanta (-2.4%), Chicago (-2.1%), New York (-1.2%) and Philadelphia (-0.9%).

Home values have lifted off of their depressed levels of one year ago for a variety of reasons. Homes are more affordable, particularly after considering how far mortgage rates have fallen, though affordability has been high for a couple of years now. Job growth, while modest, has stayed positive.

Of course, those conditions were present through much of 2011, when the housing market was still in a major funk.

So what’s changed this year?

Inventories have plunged to their lowest levels in a decade, despite the much-ballyhooed “shadow” inventory of potential foreclosures, as investors moved in to buy up homes for a steal.

And there have been more buyers chasing fewer homes, as rising rents, increased household formation, and improving consumer confidence have kicked demand into higher gear.

At the beginning of the year, Mr. Humphries’ forecast called for a modest decline home prices for 2012. Now, he says, “the bottom line is that homes are more affordable than at any time in recent memory, and buyers are seizing this opportunity.”

Mr.
